HEALTH RELATED CONTAMINANTS - Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) is the highest level of a contaminant that is allowed in drinking water. MCLs are enforceable standards.  All units in micrograms per liter (ug/L) which is equivalent to parts per billion.  Total Coliform is not a health threat in itself; it is used to indicate whether other potentially harmful bacteria may be present.
